Windaroo Valley State High School has a diverse range of subjects that can be studied in Years 7 to 12. In Year 9, all students study a mix of core and elective subjects. Core subjects are one year in length, except History and HPE, which are studied for one semester each. Elective subjects are one semester in length, apart from our excellence programs which are a full year.
All Year 9 students study:

- History
- Mathematics
- Science
Students select four (4) elective subjects in the following way:
A minimum of one elective selected from the Arts, a minimum of one elective selected from Technology and the remaining two electives selected from any area.

Year 9 Subject Selection forms are handed out each year at the Subject Expo detailing choices available to students. The Year 9 Subject Selection Handbook provides information for parents and students relating to each of the subjects to assist parents and students to be informed about subject offerings.
