Student Resource Scheme (SRS)

In accordance with the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006, the cost of providing instruction, administration and facilities for the education of students enrolled at State Schools who are Australian citizens or permanent residents, or children of Australian citizens of permanent residents, is met by the State Government, which means there is no cost to the parent/caregiver.

Parents/caregivers however are directly responsible for providing textbooks and other resources for their children while attending school. In recognition that these costs can be high, Windaroo Valley State High School provides an optional service to assist parents/caregivers with the cost of these educational resources, known as a Student Resource Scheme (SRS).

The scheme is designed to offset the cost to you of the provision of educational resources associated with your child's education. These resources enhance your child's educational experience and assist them to fully engage with the curriculum delivered by staff.

The Scheme continues to provide outstanding value for money as the school purchases in bulk to secure the best prices, which in turn, enables the SRS Fees to be kept as low as possible. Participation in the SRS Scheme provides access to textbooks, resources, and other various items.

Participation in the Student Resource Scheme is voluntary, and there is no obligation on a parent to participate in the scheme, however we strongly encouraged participation as it ensures all resources, textbooks and online educational subscriptions required for learning throughout the year are available to your student, as outlined in the Year Level SRS Student Requirements documents available on the school website.

The 2026 cost for parents/carers participating in the SRS Scheme are:

Years 7-9
$240

Years 10-12
$270

A parent or caregiver who chooses not to participate in the scheme is responsible for providing their student with all items that would otherwise be provided to the student by the SRS scheme as detailed on the Year Level Student Requirements Lists to enable your student to engage with the school's curriculum and learning activities. The Finance Office is able to arrange payment plans to support families to engage in the scheme.

The SRS scheme is not used to raise funds for other purposes, and revenue collected through the Scheme is applied only to the resources and operation of the Scheme.

Almost all Windaroo Valley State High School parents and carers have opted into participating in the SRS Scheme and take advantage of the financial and time savings provided by the school supplying learning resources required for our students.  Thank you to our community for supporting our students to be set up and ready to actively participate in learning.

Government Text Book and Resource Allowance (TRA)

The Textbook and Resource Allowance (TRA) is a Queensland government initiative that provides financial assistance to parents/carers of eligible secondary school students to help reduce the cost of education resources.  This scheme has been in operation for a very long time and is not a new initiative.

The TRA allowance is provide to Years 7-12 students attending approved State and non-State schools, and approved Special Schools (excluding hospital schools, youth detention education and training centres, students enrolled in part-time distance education at non-state schools and full fee-paying international and temporary resident students).

For State school students, the TRA is paid directly to schools.  For parents/carers who choose to participate in the Student Resource Scheme (SRS), the TRA is applied as a credit to reduce the annual SRS fee. The SRS Year Level Requirements Lists show how the TRA has been applied to offset costs to parents/carers.

Parents/carers who have informed the school that they do not wish to participate in the SRS scheme will receive the TRA as a credit to the student's account or as a direct payment from the school.  Remember, parents/carers who choose not to participate in the SRS scheme are required to personally purchase and provide all of the items on the Year Level SRS Requirements List for their student to use at school during curriculum delivery.

2026 TRA Rates:

  • Years 7-10       $164
  • Years 11-12     $357

If you have any questions, please contact the school's Finance Office.
